Corporate Governance Briefly defined, corporate governance is the system by which business corporations are directed and controlled. It specifies the distribution of rights and responsibilities among different participants in the corporation, such as the board, managers, shareholders and other stakeholders. And it spells out the rules and procedures for making decisions on corporate affairs. Good corporate governance is the cornerstone of a sound business. Naturally, in our role as educators and trainers, it is of vital importance that we keep our own house in good order. So, although as a private company we are not obliged to follow Public Company standard compliance, we follow that discipline to the letter. Accordingly, Sugar’s auditors are Price Waterhouse Coopers. We have a formal Board structure with an active Remuneration committee and a Non-Executive Chairman. Given the challenges facing companies today and increasing pressures to manage legislative and regulatory change, not to mention growing public scrutiny and unwelcome media attention, we settle for nothing less than complete transparency, full compliance and accountability at the highest standards.
